ID Studio was founded in New York City in 2001 by German Jaramillo and Ramiro Sandoval as artistic directors; Among other plays, ID Studio has successfully presented two original plays at the Theater for the New City: "Allende, the Death of a President" in 2006 and "A Clear Midnight" in 2008. Allende, caught on to such an extent that we were invited to represent the United States at the International Theater Festival of Caracas, Venezuela in the fall of 2006, following its opening in the spring of that same year. It was well reviewed by the New York Times. ID Studio creates, produces, and performs works of theater, dance, and music that are presented in front of live audiences or filmed for TV, movies, or other media. Each production, and the related rehearsals and performances, is used as a space to research acting and performing techniques, as well as other aspects of the performing arts, including costume, lighting, and musical design. For example, whereas professional actors have developed technique and work more quickly toward a finished product, workers in the community often convey the truth of their lives and are committed to a process of discovery. |
