Spring - Summer 2017

ID Studio’s CBT Workshops seek to build community by providing a platform to showcase the artistic talents of Latino immigrant and low-income communities while building community power and encouraging intergenerational dialogue on pressing issues within our neighborhoods. ID Studio leads innovative theater workshops for high school students that encourage creative and imaginative ways of thinking about key themes such as community vision for art and cultural equity, community leadership, education, communication and public speaking, and understanding power structures and our role in them.

"Cumbia for All" SU CASA Workshop Program

In collaboration with Folklore Urbano, Pajarillo Pinta'o, and Moshelu Montefiore Senior Center

March - June 2017


As part of NYC's "SU CASA" initiative to bring arts workshops to senior centers around the city, ID Studio Theater organized "Cumbia for Seniors" in collaboration with our ArtsLatinoNY partners Folklore Urbano (music) and Pajarillo Pinta'o (dance). Throughout Spring 2017 we brought theater, dance and music workshops based on Colombian traditions to the Moshulu Montefiore Senior Center in the Bronx. Participants in the workshops helped create an original short musical theater piece which was performed at the Senior Center and at ID Studio Theater June 30, 2017.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, District 14 Council Member Fernando Cabrera.

Viernes de Poesía y Bronx

A monthly themed poetry reading series that began in September 2016, "Viernes de Poesía y Bronx" is free and open to the public featuring diverse poets reading in Spanish and English. Organized by award-winning Colombian poet Fátima Vélez Giraldo.
