Set in a penitentiary in Colombia—a country with notoriously overcrowded and violent prisons, based largely on the United States' model of mass incarceration—Maximum Security is an award-winning play that explores the lives of three cellmates and one guard as they navigate a labyrinth of degradation and survival tactics behind bars. In collaboration with BronxArtSpace’s concurrent exhibition STATE PROPERTY, Maximum Security is the first of four Colombian plays iD Studio Theater will present in the 2017 – 2018 season.
Sunday's performance will be followed by a conversation about Mass Incarceration and Prisoners' Rights including:
- Esther Gonzalez: Director of "Innocence and Freedom"
- Frank King: Director of "KING,"and formerly incarcerated in New York State
- Mr. Five Mualimm-ak: Incarcerated Nation, Fury Young, Die Jim Crow
Looking forward to seeing you next weekend!
