ID Studio Theater Performance and Research Center, inc. is committed to the artistic and social empowerment of disadvantaged immigrant communities through innovative work in the performing arts
We are a non-profit arts organization based in the South Bronx in New York. With an active company of professional artists and performers and a network of dozens of theater and arts professionals, ID Studio works within Latino immigrant communities to create new audiences, develop new works, and train new performers and artists. Formed in 2001 and incorporated in 2005, ID Studio promotes the performing arts as a means of building community knowledge, catalyzing collective action, encouraging inter-community dialogue and celebrating our common humanity.
Since our founding in 2001, ID Studio’s projects have been shown at a wide range of venues, from international theater festivals to schools and community spaces. ID Studio fosters exchanges with cultural organizations in Latin America and France and partners with community-based organizations such as Make the Road New York and Dreamyard in New York, and Unidad Latina en Acción in New Haven, CT.

Highlights of our work
Over the past 17 years,
ID Studio has performed in all five boroughs -from Mott Haven to Staten Island to the Theater for the New City on the Lower East Side-, where we have presented plays based on Walt Whitman, Salvador Allende, Juan Rulfo, and by Nilo Cruz and Piedad Bonnett, among others.We have partnered
with immigrant-oriented community-based organizations, such as Make the Road New York and the Hispanic Federation, to develop original works combining theater, music, dance and film.
We are developing a musical trilogy, and are proud to have presented plays in the International Theater Festival in Bogotá (2012), the Festival de Teatro Hispano del Comisionado (2013, 2017), and as part of the Latin American Theater Series at Yale University (2014) and the Festival Internacional de Teatro sin Fronteras in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico (2018).
