ID Studio Theater Performance and Research Center, inc. is committed to the artistic and social empowerment of disadvantaged immigrant communities through innovative work in the performing arts. ID Studio Theater is a non-profit arts organization based in the South Bronx, New York. ID Studio promotes the performing arts as a means of building community knowledge, inter-community dialogue, and celebrating our common humanity. ID Studio works with Latine immigrants to foster community and act as a catalyst for collective action. With an international network of theater and arts professionals, we develop new works and train community members to perform alongside seasoned artists. ID Studio’s award-winning projects have been shown at a wide range of venues, from international theater festivals to schools and community spaces.

History

Founded by Colombian actor and director Germán Jaramillo in 2001, and incorporated in 2005, ID Studio has developed over 25 bilingual theater and music productions within immigrant communities throughout NYC and beyond.  Our works have toured nationally and internationally, and we have collaborated with organizations including DreamYard, the Hispanic Federation, BronxArtSpace, MASA in the Bronx, and the Bilingual Foundation for the Arts in LA. Since 2016 IDS has been based in the historically rich and complex South Bronx. ID Studio engages neighborhood residents of all ages, economic and cultural educational backgrounds, and immigration statuses.
